Hollywood movies are ever-increasingly not being filmed in Hollywood and now Los Angeles’ other famous film industry is also pulling out of the Golden State.
Los Angeles authorities report that so far this year, just 20 permits for X-rated film productions have been issued in the county, representing a plunge of more than 90% in just two years.
In fact, the LA Times went as far as writing last week that porn producers are “fleeing” the city.
The flaccid state of the industry is being blamed on ‘Measure B’ an ordinance passed by LA County in 2012 mandating the use of condoms porn sets.
The condom laws were passed after more than one actor tested positive for HIV.
LA adult movie producers, however, say there is little demand for condom porn and the ordinance is killing their industry.
Adult entertainment studios say they’re taking their business to friendlier and less regulated locales until LA decides to let them film in peace.
When questioned by reporters, adult movie performers that were interviewed said they know there are health risks associated with their profession, but they also don’t want the discomfort of latex rubbing against their skin during hour-long shoots.
Opponents point to “Measure B” as yet another government intrusion into the freedom of consenting adults while supporters of the measure say using condoms is plain common sense.
