A California man is facing life in prison after he murdered a local business owner over a parking dispute.

Scott Shipley, 56, was sentenced on August 2 to 40-years to life in prison for his role in the death of Christopher Demyen, owner of Acron Water Company.

On May 17, 2013, Shipley was driving home when he came across one of Demyen’s water trucks filling a swimming pool and blocking Shipley’s path.

According to witnesses Shipley walked home to retrieve his weapon. When Demyen arrived at the scene, he and Shipley got into a verbal altercation which turned physical. Shipley shot Demyen once in the chest, killing him.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that Scott Russell Shipley, 57, was also found guilty of intentionally discharging his firearm.
