A 3-year-old Great Dane had to undergo surgery in February to remove the nearly four dozen multicolored socks he had gulped down, according to a KPHO report.
News of the surgery comes courtesy of a contest held by Veterinary Practice News to prove, as if it needed proving, that "animals will eat just about anything".
A Portland, Oregon surgeon performed the procedure soon after the dog's owners noticed the poor (read: dumb) animal retching and vomiting all day long and took it to DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital.
Vets noticed "a large quantity of foreign material" and were no doubt surprised when they found, and eventually removed 43 and a half socks from the dog's stomach.
The dane luckily made it through alright. We really hope he's learned his lesson.
