A man survived suicide jump from a six-story building located at 1491 2nd Avenue in Manhattan around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to a witness, the man had been standing on the edge of the roof for 30 minutes before the jump. He yelled at the police saying he didn’t want to jump, and threatened to cut the wire which he was holding on to. After a while, he turned, read something aloud from a piece of paper, and jumped.

The jumper fell on the pavement, and was then sent to New York-Presbyterian Hospital. He survived the jump, but still in a critical condition.
