Dog driving car: Cute black lab crashes pickup truck into swimming pool - TomoNews

A North Carolina black labrador freaked out during a trip to the grocery store last week and ended up sending both her and her pickup truck-driving owner's straight into a stranger's swimming pool.
Erwin residents Mike and Ruth Smith were making a quick run to the store with their lab Caroline last Friday when something apparently freaked out the 90-pound pooch mid-way through the trip.
"When she gets scared she will go down on the floorboard of the truck," Mike Smith told WRAL-TV.
And that's exactly what Caroline did. She spased out and dove right on top of Smith's wife's foot, flooring the gas pedal.
Smith says he was unable to pull the dog up from the floor in time and so his wife, who was driving, steered the vehicle toward a wooden fence in the hopes of stopping the truck.
Hitting speeds of up to 55 mph, the classic Dodge just couldn't be stopped and crashed straight through the fence and into a stranger's swimming pool.
"I just had open heart surgery in January," the owner of said pool, John McNamara, told WTVD-TV, noting how the commotion nearly gave him another heart attack.
The Dodge was totaled, but luckily Caroline and her owners were not injured.
