An eager global public caught a brief glimpse of the new Princess of Cambridge early Saturday morning as the Duke and Duchess welcomed the newest addition to the royal family.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge left St Mary's Hospital to take their new bundle of joy home to Kensington Palace Saturday morning, the BBC reports.
The princess, whose name has yet to be announced, slept in her mother's arms during her first public appearance outside the hospital in London.
According to the Telegraph, the duchess was admitted to the hospital's Lindo Wing, which has been the scene of many royal births, including Prince George in 2013, after going into labor.
The princess of Cambridge, who is fourth in line to the throne, was delivered at 08:34 a.m. British Standard Time after a short three hour labor, Kensington Palace officials said.
Proud father William was present in the delivery room as Kate gave birth to a healthy 8lb 3oz (3.7kg) baby girl.
A spokesperson from the palace said that proud papa William was pleased that both his wife and little princess, who is fourth in line to the throne, are doing well.
No name has yet been made public, but the guessing game has begun and with legal bookmakers taking in thousands of bets, 'Alice' and 'Charlotte' appear to be among the frontrunners.
