Megan Adamescu, a runway model, was arrested for public intoxication at the South Bay Club in Miami Beach in 2013. Detective Philippe Archer, a 19-year veteran of the department, was called on to do the job.

After her arrest, Adamescu suffered a head contusion and a black eye. 2 years later, a CCTV footage emerged which put Detective Archer under the spotlight. The video clearly showed Archer returning Adamescu's slight kick with a punch to head and a kick to the ribs. Adamescu, due to her injuries, was not able to do any runway shows scheduled at that time. Archer did not include these details on his police report.

A passerby, Andrew Mossberg, mistook the arrest as a mugging and he intervened to help the model. As a result, Mossberg was also beaten up by the detective. Archer is now under investigation and has since been suspended without pay.
