Cultura Latina - Central American Universities Cultural Festival
  • 9 years ago
Follow the music, admire the art, place yourself inside historic architecture, in Telesur's "Cultura Latina". In this week's program, host Mauricio Izquierdo starts by taking us to Tegucigalpa, Honduras, where more than 1,000 artists gathered for the first Central American Universities Cultural Festival. The event features some of the best dance, painting, and literature the region has to offer in what one participant calls a "cultural tsunami". Such activities, while enthusiastically received by the public, have been few and far between in Honduras, whose government recently closed the Ministry of Culture. Then its off to Bogota, for the 2nd edition of the Human Rights Film Festival, in which 80 entries from 23 countries participated. The common thread is the promotion of human rights and a culture of peace through filmmaking. teleSUR
