Lightning and lava illuminated the night sky as Chile’s Calbuco Volcano erupted on Wednesday after half a century of inactivity. Officials declared a state of emergency, sent in the Army and evacuated around 5,000 people from within a 13 mile radius around the volcano. Massive clouds of ashes drifted as far away as southern Argentina, causing airlines to cancel flights. teleSUR
