After Easter, rabbits take over shelters, these inseparable rabbits need a home now.

With Easter being over, rabbits overpopulate the animal shelters with the risks of being euthanized first. Penelope and Daphne are sweet one-year-old rabbits that are inseparable siblings, meaning that they are a bonded pair that must be adopted together. If you'd like to be Penelope and Daphne's forever home, contact thevbas.org.

00:00But Elfie and Daphne came in shortly after Easter of last year.
00:18And so our best guess is someone got them for Easter bunnies when they were very, very
00:22little and very, very adorable and just didn't know what to do with them.
00:25And they came to us as very young sisters.
00:28We have an amazing volunteer group here.
00:31And when little bunnies come in, volunteers take them home, raise them until they're old
00:36enough to be spay or neutered, bring them back to the shelter and put them up for adoption.
00:39These two went out to foster, were cared for, handled every day, and basically made and
00:46molded into perfect, handleable bunnies.
00:51Daphne and Penelope have to go together because they've been together their entire lives.
00:54They're very used to each other.
00:56If they are apart, they get very, very stressed.
00:58They get very, very depressed.
00:59They have a lot of emotional things.
01:01And with bunnies, the emotional translates to the physical.
01:04That means they can get sick.
01:05They won't live as long.
01:06You'll have a lot more problems with them separately than you ever do as a pair.
01:10People aren't really sure what goes into adopting two bunnies as opposed to adopting one.
01:15So they're expecting it to be a lot more difficult than it actually really is.
01:19Taking care of two rabbits is not any harder than taking care of one.
01:23Bunnies are actually excellent apartment pets.
01:26They're easy to clean up after.
01:27They're both litter box trained.
01:28They don't need tons of attention all the time.
01:30The two of them, they keep each other busy often enough that you don't have to spend
01:33all your time with them.
01:36They're still very young bunnies.
01:37They're still very energetic.
01:38They have almost a decade left of life that they can live, and I don't want them to spend
01:43it here at the shelter.
