Frankie, a blue-nose pit bull was left chained up and neglected by his owner. Someone called the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center and they took him to their high in take facility. They are not a no-kill shelter and Frankie needs to find a home before they become overpopulated. Frankie is on borrowed time. If you would like to be Frankie's forever home, contact animal care.lacounty.gov

00:00Baldwin Park Care Center is not a no-kill facility, we are a very high-intake shelter.
00:07Frankie is a blue-nosed pit bull, he's about 70-80 pounds, he has a ton of energy, he's
00:14really friendly, he likes people, but you can tell whoever he was with before didn't
00:18really spend a lot of time with him.
00:21Someone had put in a call that this dog was chained up behind some industrial buildings.
00:26He had a big pinch collar on, he was going crazy, he had no food, no water, no shelter,
00:31he'd been there all day.
00:32So our officer came and kind of befriended him, brought him back here.
00:37Here at the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center, the facility here is very large.
00:42We have four dog runs with 48 kennels in each dog run.
00:46The mission for Baldwin Park is to ensure public safety as well as ensure the health
00:52of the animals that come into our care, and to ensure the animals are treated appropriately
00:59while living with their owners.
01:01Though we want to adopt every single animal that comes through these doors, we know we
01:06cannot save them all, but with the public's help, we can get on the right track to make
01:12that a false statement in the near future.
01:15Baldwin Park Care Center is not a no-kill facility, we are a very high-intake shelter,
01:20and a lot of people would say high-kill.
01:22Frankie is here where that happens, but we do try and keep the animals as long as we
01:26can and as long as we have space.
01:29No dog should have to live in a cage forever.
01:31Pit bulls in general don't do well in cages.
01:34It would be selfish for us to make him stay in a cage forever if he can't find out.
01:39Frankie is special to us because we know his story.
01:42We saw Frankie come to us from being tied up.
01:45We feel bad for him because that's a horrible way to be abandoned by the person that supposedly
01:49loved you.
01:50We get to take care of him, and someone else obviously didn't take care of him.
01:55Frankie would make a great pet for any athletic family, hiking, jogging, anything like that.
02:00He would love to lounge around on your floor, at your feet, he would love to play tug-of-war
02:04with you probably all day.
02:05I think he'd be a good pet.
