Shrek the Green Iguana another of Robert's favourite animals doesn't live up to his name, as like all male Green Iguana's he's more orange than green. Shrek has a long tail that helps him to swim and large flap that hangs down from his neck called a dewlap Shrek enjoys eating vegetation and particularly hibiscus flowers and he loves a good scratch! That doesn't mean he's a good pet however as escaped Iguana's in Florida have become a problem.

00:02 This is Shrek, the green iguana.
00:10 They're called green iguanas,
00:12 but the males actually have more of an orange sort of colour.
00:16 Now, he is an iguana that loves attention.
00:19 He really, really loves getting scratched.
00:22 You can see it's very comfy in this position.
00:25 You can see they've got a really big, long tail.
00:29 That's for balance,
00:30 and they can also swim really good with that tail as well.
00:34 He's got big spikes across his back.
00:37 And see that big flap down here?
00:40 That's actually called a dewlap, and that's mostly for display.
00:44 And you can see he's got a horn just on the end of his nose,
00:47 and he's got these big claws.
00:50 That's so he can climb trees.
00:51 They're really, really good climbers.
00:53 So, these guys, normally, they'd eat vegetables.
00:57 Also, hibiscus flowers is one of their favourites as well.
01:00 So, occasionally, when they're younger, they might eat small insects.
01:04 But when they get older, mostly vegetation.
01:07 A lot of people actually keep these guys as pets,
01:11 and what's really sad is sometimes they can get away,
01:15 and if you go to Florida, they're actually there in the wild,
01:18 and it's not very good for the environment
01:20 because they're not actually supposed to be there.
01:23 So, it's good to always have a suitable pet,
01:26 probably not these guys.
01:27 There are a lot of different types of iguanas
01:30 that are actually endangered,
01:32 but we're very lucky 'cause this guy isn't endangered,
01:35 and we definitely want to keep it that way.
01:38 Shrek is just one of the awesome animals we have here at Australia Zoo.
01:42 So, remember to watch next time and subscribe.
