00:02 - Hey everyone and welcome to a very special
00:04 Thanksgiving edition of Dog Food.
00:07 I'm Chef Poodle and this is my lovely
00:09 and talented sous chef, Chef Jan.
00:11 - Hi everybody.
00:12 (upbeat music)
00:15 - Now Jan, as you know, our mission here on Dog Food
00:19 is to make foods that are both healthy and delicious
00:21 for both dogs and their human companions.
00:24 - Absolutely, and we have a very special
00:26 Thanksgiving episode for you today.
00:28 - Okay, well one of the things that many people
00:30 don't realize about a Thanksgiving meal
00:32 is that there are many foods that humans enjoy
00:34 that dogs like me need to steer clear of.
00:37 - That's right, Chef, so we need to make sure
00:39 no one gets sick.
00:40 - That's right, that's why I've created
00:41 what I like to call the perfect doggy bag bowl.
00:45 - Ooh, great idea.
00:47 - Yeah, now this is a nice mixture
00:48 of all the parts of the Thanksgiving meal
00:50 that a dog can safely enjoy.
00:52 - Well I believe that the recipe we'll be following
00:54 will let us make about nine servings, I think, right?
00:57 - That's right, perfect, which is great
00:59 because I love leftovers.
01:00 - Me too.
01:01 - That's like eight days of leftovers just for me.
01:03 - Just for you and me.
01:05 - Oh, okay, I'm not good at math,
01:06 but that sounds about right.
01:08 - Okay, great, thanks, Chef.
01:09 - Perfect, all right, well let's see what we have first.
01:12 - All right, first off, we're gonna take our mixing bowl.
01:15 - Ooh. - I know.
01:17 And then we'll start with turkey.
01:19 - Ooh, my favorite part.
01:21 - Oh yeah, you like that, don't you, Chef?
01:23 - Oh, it's the staple of our meal.
01:26 - We wanna use a little more white than dark meat,
01:28 but both are okay for this, for sure.
01:30 - That's right, and we wanna use about three pounds
01:33 of turkey that has been skinned and boned.
01:36 - All right, that smells so yummy.
01:39 Mm-mm-mm. - Oh yes.
01:41 - Yeah, ooh, let me just--
01:42 - You wanna give it a little smell?
01:43 Oh, and a little try.
01:45 - That turkey is still fresh.
01:46 - All right, yes, well good,
01:48 I'm glad you tested it for us all.
01:50 - All right, so what's next?
01:51 - Okay, next we're gonna have oatmeal.
01:54 Now I know oatmeal is not a traditional Thanksgiving dish,
01:58 but for this we're gonna use one cup of cooked oatmeal.
02:01 - Ooh, that's exciting.
02:03 - Gives it a nice consistency.
02:05 - Well, let's put it in there and see what we have.
02:08 I am so excited. - All right.
02:09 Next we have about a pound of sweet potatoes
02:12 that have been cubed.
02:13 - Oh, that's delicious.
02:15 - I know, you wanna add it?
02:16 - I would love to, all right.
02:18 Let's get that over here. - There's the bowl.
02:19 - And we'll take this here,
02:21 and we'll just dump it all in there.
02:23 - Perfect. - Take that.
02:24 - Great. - All right, now--
02:26 - Thank you, chef.
02:27 - All right, what's next?
02:28 - So last but not least,
02:30 we've got about two tablespoons of dried cranberries.
02:33 - Oh, that looks so delicious.
02:34 - Yeah, smells pretty good.
02:36 You thinking about it? - Yummy.
02:39 - I'll go ahead and add it, chef.
02:40 - Oh, that sounds perfect.
02:42 - All right, now it's time to mix everything together.
02:44 - Ooh, you wanna hand that over here?
02:46 - Absolutely, will you do the honors?
02:48 - I would love to, perfect.
02:49 Oh, let's get some of that meat up to the top.
02:52 - Yeah, and you can eat this hot or cold,
02:55 but it's up to you, whatever preference you'd like.
02:59 - Well, I mean, I'll start out cold,
03:00 but I gotta tell you, as I'm sampling it now,
03:02 hot would probably be better.
03:03 - Yeah, okay. - No, no,
03:05 I'm gonna be better.
03:06 I can put this in the oven. - I'll already mix it up.
03:07 - You do that. - Great.
03:09 All right, you did a great job, chef, stirring this up.
03:12 - Thank you, I do think we want it warmer, though.
03:14 - Okay, well then I will put it in the oven
03:16 for about 15 minutes under warm.
03:19 - Ooh, okay.
03:21 I am so excited because the food is ready,
03:24 it's ready to go.
03:25 Chef Jan, are you thankful for anything this Thanksgiving?
03:28 - Well, funny you say that,
03:30 because I was just thinking about
03:32 how much I'm thankful for you, Chef Poodle.
03:34 - Aw, that's such a nice thing to say.
03:37 - Yeah, what are you thankful for?
03:39 - I am so thankful that the food is right there,
03:41 and you're gonna hand it to me,
03:42 and I can just stuff my face with it.
03:43 - All right, let's dig in, chef.
03:45 - All right. - Happy Thanksgiving.
03:47 - Happy Thanksgiving.
03:48 We take this spoon and shove it.
03:50 - I'm not using that no more.
03:51 - Mm, just like we always do. - Mm, it's so good.
03:56 - You're always so much faster than me.
03:57 - Oh, that's just years of practice.
04:00 - Happy Thanksgiving, chef.
04:02 - I don't know if there's gonna be leftovers,
04:03 but happy Thanksgiving.
