Husband kills wife: George Scott Samson shoots Kelly Ecker 4 hours after wedding in Terre Haute

The shortest marriage ever came to a violent end in the wee hours of Sunday morning when an Indiana doctor, George “Scott” Samson, murdered his wife of four hours, nurse Kelly Ecker.
During the wedding reception, a drunk Scott Samson declared his wife would “never get her hands on his money.” Then, during the after party at the couple’s house, the couple’s fighting scared away all the guests around 1:17 a.m.
The last guest even asked Kelly Ecker to leave with her, but Ecker declined. Then, barely three minutes later, Ecker placed several frantic calls for help to 911. Samson, who possessed an arsenal of guns was also an FFL (Federal Firearms License), began mercilessly beating his wife and threatening to kill her.
Kelly told the 911 operator that her husband had guns in the house and was going to kill her, then before the line goes dead, Kelly Ecker’s last words can be heard, “Oh, my God!” followed by a string of concussive blasts from her husband’s .40 caliber handgun.
Samson’s father says Scott then barricaded himself in the basement with guns and ammunition. When the police finally arrived, late owing to a hunt for the wrong address given by Ecker in her panicked 911 call, a tactical team entered the house.
Using a remote camera, police later found Scott Samson in the basement, dead of a self inflicted gunshot to the head. Both Samson and Ecker leave behind children from previous relationships.
