Ohio man Anthony Luzio, Jr’s car found beneath pond 9 years later

Thanks to the vigilance and tenacity of the family and other people searching for a missing Ohio man, the mystery of his disappearance nine years ago has finally been solved.
On July 4, 2005, 25-year-old Anthony Luzio Jr of Powell, Ohio was out celebrating Independence Day with friends in Delaware County, just north of Columbus. Witnesses say he was intoxicated when he tried to drive home. He was never seen or heard from again.
After years of searching, it was decided to narrow the search down to bodies of water that could submerge a car and also would have had street access and be void of obstacles like fences or trees during that time. Dennis and Tammy Watters, who run a search and recovery company in Illinois, provided their experience and equipment, using sonar to find and recover objects buried underwater in similar cases.
On Tuesday Luzio’s car was pulled out of a retention pond and inside were his clothes and driver’s license along with human remains. The pond was just one of more than 250 that were dredged in the years since Luzio’s disappearance.
