A UK man’s charges were finally dropped in a legal issue over a tiger sex video. Andrew Holland of Wrexham, North Wales appreciates a good low-brow joke as much as the next guy, but nobody’s laughing at how a spoof tiger video wrecked this poor man’s life.

It all started when one of Holland’s friends sent him a video of a tiger having sex with woman as a joke. Holland says he viewed the lewd video for six seconds, but possession of the video landed him in court on a possession of extreme video charge.
A law put into effect in 2009 makes it illegal to possess sexually graphic images that depict acts which threaten a person’s life: acts which result in or are likely to result in serious injury to a person’s anus, breasts, or genitals.
Holland was fired from his job for his supposed interest in the video and was subjected to “widespread ridicule.”
“Three young lads turned up at my door and were calling me everything.” Holland told The Independent.
Holland was denied contact with his daughter, forced him to leave his home town and suffered a heart attack from the stress.
After 14 months of legal battles the case was eventually dropped when prosecutors realized it was not a real tiger but simply a man in a tiger costume. They turned up the volume from the video and heard the “tiger” say, “That’s grrrrrrreat,” in the style of Tony the Tiger.
Holland is now fighting to get the law changed so “harmless but crude jokes” don’t run the same legal risk as human harming videos. Since 2008 more than 5,500 people have been prosecuted under the law.
