Belgian police arrested three suspects in the city of Ghent after four men burst into a flat on Monday in a reported hostage situation.
Armed with Kalashnikovs, the men took a man hostage, according to initial reports. Police soon arrived at the scene, surrounded the building and cordoned the area. They also arrived at the scene with a truck with ladders, the BBC reported.
After police in balaclavas stormed the building, three suspects were escorted out with their hands in the air.The location of the fourth suspect has yet to be established.
No links with terrorism or jihadist organisations were found. Neighbours told Belgian broadcaster VRT that the flat had been used by drug dealers.
The incident follows on the heels of another siege in Ghent that involved an unpaid debt in October, according to the BBC.
