Last week in Zhejiang, an eastern coastal province of China, police discovered a female kidnap victim that exposed a kidnap and murder ring.
The young woman, identified by her last name Chen, had only just arrived in the area to visit her husband who was working there. A man approached her and offered to drive her there saying that he was a freelance chauffeur. The woman agreed and they settled on the price of USD 7 (RMB40).
Chen was tired after her long train ride there and dozed off in the car, when she awoke she realized the car had stopped in front of a small house at the foot of the mountains. The driver forced her from the car at knife point and pushed her into the house where two other men tied her up and stole her phone and money.
Later in the afternoon, two women visited the men from the nearby village. The men untied Chen but told her to stay quiet and one man was with her at all times.
However, Chen was able to sneak off a little ways with one of the women and told her she’d been kidnapped and asked her to call the police. It was all she managed before the man who was following her caught up.
Police arrived two hours later and only found two men at the house. They continued to search the area and early the next morning located the woman and one of the men hiding in the mountains.
It turns out that after the two visiting women had left the other two men wanted to kill Chen right away, but the third man decided to steal her away and the two of them hid in the woods until police found them the next morning.
The three men confessed to kidnapping young single female travelers, robbing them and then keeping them for days at a time to satisfy their other ‘needs’. The three would then murder their victims together, so that no one could back out of the arrangement. The three men confessed to kidnapping, murdering, and raping at least 10 young women, if not more.
