Shotgun self defense: 11-year-old girl scares home intruder with shotgun

An 11-year-old girl scared off a pair of home intruders with shotgun on Friday. Wasson and Steward in custody after they broke into a home on Five Lakes Road in Lapeer County, Michigan.
Lapeer County police say the prowlers knocked on all doors before forcing their way inside when there was no response. Inside the home grabbed, the 11-year-old girl grabbed her shotgun that her father taught her how to use for hunting. She hid in the bathroom closet.
When Wassen entered the bathroom and was surprised by the pre-teen who was pointing the shotgun at him. The 11-year-old scared the intruders out of the house and into their vehicle which they drove to to a nearby town.
Imlay City police spotted the suspects’ vehicle about 30 minutes later and found both Wasson and Steward inside. Both suspects have been charged with home invasion and burglary tool possession. Wasson’s bond was set at $200,000 and Steward’s at $100,000.
