Gangster suicide: After he’d lost everything he decided there was no reason to go on

In western Taiwan a former gangster boss, identified by his last name Su, age 38, passed away from carbon monoxide poisoning in his home.
The formerly-alive Mr. Su established himself as a gang boss 15 years ago. His gang dealt drugs, smashed businesses that refused to pay protection money, and occasionally went after people even after they’d been sent to the emergency room.
But five years ago, Mr. Su’s wife left and divorced him. Shortly after that, Mr. Su’s own gang began freezing him out, leaving him unemployed and lost. Mr. Su’s elderly father told his son that he would have to sell the his house if he hoped to pay off the debts he’d accumulated over the years.
So a few nights ago, after showing a potential buyer his home Mr. Su did three bags of ketamine, drank a bottle of whiskey, sealed the windows and doors of his house, set ablaze a bag of charcoal in a small furnace, and went to sleep. It would be his father who discovered his body after the wise guy had already died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
His father doesn’t seem terribly broken up over his son’s death, saying that he’d already lost his happy little boy years ago.
