This story is a strange one, but also perhaps a historical first: Maxwell Morton is a 16-year-old from Pennsylvania who was arrested and charged with first-degree murder after he took a Snapchat selfie with the dead body of his victim.

While visiting a classmate on Wednesday, Morton — for reasons as yet unknown — brought along a 9mm handgun and shot his classmate, 16-year-old Ryan Mangan, in the face, killing him instantly.

What Morton did next is baffling. He posed for a selfie with the victim's body and then sent the picture to another friend via Snapchat.

Most people know that Snapchat pics disappear shortly after they are sent, but there are plenty of apps that allow Snapchats to be saved, and the recipient of the macabre photo saved it and sent it to cops.

The Snapchat murderer confessed after cops found the gun he used and Maxwell Morton will be tried as an adult for 1st degree murder. Friends of Ryan Mangan say he was a well-liked happy, funny teenager and they cannot imagine why anyone want to harm him.
