When La Crosse, Wisconsin police responded to an armed robbery report at King’s Korner bar, they arrested Jeff Steele—the guy who had just tried to stop the stickup.

The early Monday morning robbery was carried out by Heidi Thompson, 24. Dressed in a skimask and armed with a handgun, she entered the bar before closing time. Steele was there enjoying a cold one.

The bartender Colleen Hogan complied with Thompson’s demands to hand over all the 20s from the till. By this time, Steele had crept up behind Thompson where he attempted to disarm her with a taser. But he missed.

Thompson was spooked and ran out of the bar. Police arrested her minutes later for armed robbery and disorderly conduct.

The interesting part of the story is when the police arrived, they slapped Steele with a felony for possession of an electronic weapon because he didn’t have a concealed carry permit which is required under Wisconsin law.

It’s possible that the district attorney will drop Steele’s felony charge but in the meantime, somebody buy this guy a drink.
