Bikram Choudhury, the 69-year-old founder of the now ubiquitous brand of 'Bikram' hot yoga is facing six separate lawsuits from a raft of women who claim to have been sexually assaulted by him.
The yoga guru's empire of schools teaches 26 unique poses to be performed in a sweltering hot environment of up to 104 Fahrenheit. The style has become a hit in 220 countries.
The latest lawsuit names former Canadian student, Jill Lawler. It's reported Lawler once begged her parents to pull $10,000 from her college fund so she could attend one of Choudhury's yoga instructor training courses.
Lawler claims Choudhury in 2010 attempted to slide his hands into her pants during a training session.
Lawler also alleges Choudhury later apologized and said he would "make her a champion" before his behaviour eventually escalated to even worse harassment and rape.
Another woman, Larissa Anderson who had earlier experienced sexual trauma, took up Bikram Yoga at age 22, under the promise it would help her reclaim her body.
She says, however, she was tricked and raped by Choudhury at his home in 2006 while his wife and children were at home.
No criminal charges has been laid against Choudhry and has denied all accusations of wrongdoing.
