Real life “Snakes on a Plane” in Taiwan when man attempts to ship living python

Earlier this week staff at the domestic cargo division of Taipei Songshan Airport were shocked to discover a live 15 foot ball python snake in a box.

Staff were X-raying all of the packages prior to loading them onto a flight when they discovered something inside one of the boxes was moving.

The staff called the man who had posted the package and informed him that he would have to come to Taipei to collect his snake as according to policy they were unable to mail the squirming reptile.

Taiwan’s laws allows for live cats, dogs, rabbits, turtles, amphibians, fish, and shrimp to be shipped domestically with the appropriate paperwork, but not snakes.

There’s always the additional concern that a live reptile could escape its box and start a re-enactment of Samuel L. Jackson’s infamous “Snakes on a Plane.”
