Houston cops targeting illegal sex businesses and their customers have arrested 64 men on prostitution-related charges following a huge undercover sting.
On January 20, Houston Police Department’s Vice Division set up and operated an undercover modeling studio, in hopes of luring potential customers. They advertised the business online, using photos of attractive women.
Hundreds of interested men contacted to the studio with the intent to pay for sex, according to a Houston Police Department press release.
Vice officers identified and charged 64 men who allegedly fell for the phony sex business and attempted to purchase sex from the undercover officers.
On February 19, officers of various tactical units arrested the 64 suspects in a ‘round-up style’ fashion.
If convicted, the men could face up to a year in jail and as much as $2,000 in fines.
Houston police said the sting was part of efforts to combat sex trafficking and demand for illegal sex services, which sometimes involves girls and women being coerced into prostitution.
