Survivalist fugitive Bradley Robinett’s secret bunker found by FBI in Washington State

An underground camouflaged bunker build by survivalist fugitive Bradley Robinett was unearthed by the FBI on the morning of February 10th in the foothills of Sammamish, less than 20 miles from Seattle.

Robinett evaded capture for over five years, and the first of what police believe are many of his hide-out bunkers wasn’t found until Tuesday with reports saying Robinett led authorities to the site as part of plea deal.

Robinett was dishonorably discharged from the Marines for alleged stealing, then moved on to serving a seven year term for bank robbery before vanishing upon getting parole in 2009. He popped up again soon, stealing a gun and vest from a police patrol car and then stealing a succession of cars—which seemed to be almost a hobby for him.

During his years on the run he was almost caught twice. Stopped by cops in a stolen car, he made a run for it, stole a kayak and paddled his way to freedom. Another near miss came in 2009 when he barely escaped by nearly ramming a police car and then hoofing it into the hills. He was finally arrested in Oregon in June 2014, when he was arrested as he returned to yet another car he’d stolen.

Despite Robinett’s lifetime of crimes, he apparently has worked a deal that will see him serve 12 to 14 years. He’s due to be sentenced on May 4th.
