Teenage crimes: Young boys attack, rape, and attempt to murder 87 year old woman

Ruben Jose Melanson, age 16, and Raymond Michael Miranda, age 15 have been sentenced to 30 years in jail after they raped and attempted to murder an 87 year old woman.
The two boys were 14 and 15 at the time they committed the crime. They snuck into an apartment complex for the elderly and broke into the victim’s home. The two teenagers raped the elderly woman and then poured two bottles of bleach down her throat and all over her body before leaving her for dead.
The woman survived because she managed to pull the emergency cord, which alerted the complex manager who was able to call paramedics.
Police apprehended one of the boys within hours and his friend a few days later.
Their attack has left the 87 year old woman wheelchair bound for the remainder of her life.
The two boys will spend a few years in a juvenile facilities before being transferred to an adult prison.
