Police weed bust: Alaska cops raid cannabis club owned by reporter who quit on air, Charlo Greene

Police in Anchorage, Alaska searched the Alaska Cannabis Club dispensary on Friday, confiscating marijuana plants and smoking equipment from the state's only legal dispensary.

The raid put club owner Charlo Greene back in the spotlight, six months after she left her job as a news reporter by saying "F*** it, I quit" on live television.

Greene claimed her new business is completely legal, as it merely provides a place for medical marijuana card holders to smoke together.

But police said Greene was using the residence to sell marijuana -- which is still illegal in Alaska.

"Police received reports of the illegal sale of marijuana and other derivatives at a location that's been identified as the Alaska Cannabis Club," police wrote in a statement.

Almost immediately, Greene took to social media to criticize the search.

"Alaska's ONLY medical marijuana dispensary is being raided RIGHT NOW, a month after Alaska legalized weed, by the Anchorage Police Department," she wrote on Facebook.

Possession of marijuana is newly legal in Alaska.

The club did reopen one day after the search, according to Greene's Facebook posts. But the fate of the Alaska Cannabis Club is still unknown.

"Any evidence we find here in pursuit to the investigation we would seize that evidence and likely some charges will be filed," an Anchorage Police Department spokesperson said. "It's a good reminder that you cannot sell marijuana in Alaska or any product in any other form."
