An Indonesian man who snuck into a plane's wheel compartment survived a two-hour domestic flight on Tuesday.

Reports said Mario Stevan Ambarita, a 21-year-old Indonesian man, had been observing flights at Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport in Riau province for ten days. He also researched online ways to stowaway.

Ambarita went unnoticed as he climbed into the wheel well of a Garuda Indonesia passenger plane.

Flight 177 took off at around 1:30 p.m. bound for a Jakarta, a roughly two-hour flight.

Ambarita emerged from the plane and wobbled onto the tarmac. A spokesperson for Garuda Indonesia said his fingers turned blue due to a lack of oxygen. The plane reached a maximum altitude of 10,600 metres.

Quoting his relatives, the Indonesian airlines said Ambarita had been dreaming to go to the capital.
