Judge orders release of photos of abuses in U.S. prisons in Middle Eas

A federal judge in New York has issued a dictamen in what has been a long battle between human rights groups and the Pentagon. According to the ruling, the Executive Branch must reveal possibly thousands of fotos showing abuses in the prisons of Irak and Afghanistan. President Barack Obama has taken the position that the release of the photos would inflame anti-American opinion and put U.S. troops in greater danger. Transparency advocate and Law Professor Stephen Vladek says, however, "if we're so worried about the effects of our conduct on national security, perhaps we should be rethinking the conduct itself and not the documentary evidence thereof." The U.S. government has two months to appeal the judge's decision. Alexandra Hall reports from Washington for teleSUR.
