Egypt has carried out airstrikes in Libya as part of a coordinated effort with the Libyan air force.

Both say they were targeting fighters affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

The strikes took place after ISIL released a video showing the killing of 21 Egyptian coptic Christians.
