Air Conflicts: Vietnam - #18 Operation Niagara II (normal) carpet bombing & defend B52 butterflies

What does it take to win this? I think this mission is rigged; enemy AI too good, friendly AI too dumb. Enemy planes tough, friendly planes supposedly a fortress at that, a pushover. Worst of all, they all sounded like the player so it's quite impossible to tell who hit what.
