The team, which included a cardiologist, a musicologist, and a medical historian, analyzed several of the composer’s works, looking for areas with irregular rhythms.

They found a potential link in Beethoven’s String Quartet in B-flat Major, Opus 130 where a change in key to C-flat major and the use of syncopated triplets could indicate an arrhythmic spell.
