Many children dream of getting behind the wheel of a car and going for a joyride, but those who actually do it usually land in quite a bit of trouble. Recently a pre-teen did just that and ended up plowing through a church.

The incident happened on early Tuesday morning. According to Idaho Falls Police, the 12-year-old along with two teenagers took the SUV involved in the crash and another vehicle out for a joyride.

The adolescents didn’t have consent to borrow either auto. The young driver lost control of the SUV and drove through the large glass window of the church.

The vehicle didn’t immediately stop inside the building. Instead, it continued moving forward, driving down a hallway and plowing through a wall before crashing into the stage.

A water pipe was broken and the church’s entryway was flooded as a result. Miraculously no injuries were reported.

The 12-year-old is now facing charges of ‘driving a motor vehicle without the owner's consent with damage of more than $1-thousand dollars’. The extensive clean-up of the church started shortly after the accident.

Despite the mess, associate pastor Steve Winn isn’t angry with the pre-teen. He remarked “It's just a building and buildings can be fixed. You're still in a developing stage and some of the decisions you make aren't the kind of decisions an adult would make.”
