I Have Confidence....I Think
So what do I mean when I talk about confidence? See, confidence is something we have. You can have low. You can have high. You can have too much. What is it I mean when I talk about confidence?
Confidence comes from our ability to do something, to do something well, or maybe not do something. It’s based on our past performance. How confident are you in your ability to drive?
Now, we take that same confidence in you r ability to drive, and maybe if we put you in the Indy 500, do you still have the same level of confidence? Or do you have a different level of confidence?
See, confidence is also contextual. Just because you can drive in your hometown, doesn’t mean you can drive the Indy 500. It also doesn’t mean we can drop you off in the middle of London and you won’t have an issue. It changes.
So confidence, what is it? How do you get it? Well, you get it by practice. You get it by doing something. You get it by doing something well.
We also know that you can have too much confidence. We’ve all met the person that clearly thinks that they can do something that they can’t, too much confidence.
We try to keep that away from ourselves and our kids because we don’t want them to feel arrogant. We don’t want them to appear over confident. Too much confidence, not a good thing. Not enough confidence, not a good thing.
So, do you have confidence or do you not? And how do you get more confidence?
