Orphan baby rhino worried by poachers learning how to become lamb

With news Northern white rhinos could soon be extinct this orphan calf maybe trying to stay hidden by disguising itself as a lamb.

His chief trainer Lammie the lamb, who’s in on the plan no doubt, is shown teaching him the complexities of moving like a farmyard animal at Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC), in South Africa.

Gertjie the baby rhino pays close attention and mimics his coach as she leaps and dashes, although he is not as graceful.
Lammie is no mug though and realises Gertjie is still a rhino, no matter how cute he is.

Any sight of trouble and she gets the hell out of there.

‘She will not hesitate to move away when Gertjie gets too boisterous for her,’ a blogpost from HESC said.

‘She has quickly learned to read his mood and act accordingly.’

We’re not sure the plan to disguise himself as a lamb will work in the long run but we certainly hope poachers are stupid enough to be fooled. Well played Gertjie.
