Fastener heat treating process. Parts are processed utilizing the following three “sub processes”: Hardening, Quenching, Tempering. Continuous mesh belt furnaces are typically used to process either case hardening or neutral hardening. Common fastener grade materials such as 10B21, 1022, 1038, and 4037 are processed to meet industry specifications and to achieve toughness, strength, ductility, and wear resistance characteristics.
