Watch the beautiful light house in Kanyakumari, wonder how it will be like to have a view from top of that light house.

A 100-year-old lighthouse, with a height of 25 feet near the Leepuram beach, was on the verge of collapse. It was constructed during the time of the Travancore King Sri Moolam Thirunal (1885-1924).

In those days, a lamp fuelled by vegetable oil was kept atop the lighthouse to direct the ships passing through this area as Leepuram coast had many rocks. The lighthouse had a ladder for the light-man to climb and light the lamp.

But now there is no trace of the ladder. According to sources, in 1917 a German ship carrying coal collapsed near Leepuram. One Vanayaravan from Tuticorin bought the ship and donated it to St. Mary's Church at Kanyakumari.
