Shiba Inu From A Japanese Bodega Becomes An Internet Celebrity

When customers come to the window of a bodega in Japan, they're greeted by an adorable Shiba Inu.

At a small cigarette shop in Japan, a dog greets customers at the window.

The Shiba Inu, reportedly named Shiva-kun belongs to the owners of store near a Tokyo railway station.

Shiva-kun spends his days lazing about his cubbyhole underneath the store's counter, usually chewing on his favorite green vegetable.

When a customer arrives, he quickly pops up and uses his paw to open the window.

The adorable dog is helping the store garner repeat customers.

It's unknown whether the dog began doing this on his own, or if his owners trained him.

Shiba Inu's are the smallest of Japan's native breeds. Originally bred for hunting in Japan's mountains, Shiba Inu's also are great as watchdogs and companions.

Part of Shiva-kun's appeal is that he looks just like Doge, a popular internet meme featuring a Shiba Inu.

For a breed that started out as hunters, there appears to be a new line of work for them- in sales.
