Korea’s Sound “Samulnori Jangdan”

Whatever you are assigned to do,
it's important not to forget about the fundamental basics.
And, music is not an exception.
In traditional Korean music, the basics refer to as "jangdan."

This week, we are going to look at very popular form of jangdan.
It's called "Samulnori Jangdan!"
The word “samul” means "four objects" and nori means "play."

When samulnori was first introduced to the world,
the audience at a concert gave Korean musicians a suspicious look.
But once the performance started and reached its climax, all of the audience was moved, and the whole venue was filled with enjoyment of the audience and musicians.
