Alternate Title: El camino de Sagebrush
Imprisoned for a murder he did not commit, John Brant escapes and ends up out west where, after giving the local lawmen the slip, he joins up with an outlaw gang. Brant finds out that 'Jones', one of the outlaws he has become friends with, committed the murder that Brant was sent up for, but has no knowledge that anyone was ever put in jail for his crime. Willing to forgive and forget, Brant doesn't realize that 'Jones' has not only fallen for the same pretty shopgirl Brant has, but begins to suspect that Brant is not truly an outlaw.

04:35We'll go around the hill and head him off.
05:05I don't see a sign of him anywhere.
05:28Anyplace.
05:49What's that?
05:58I don't know.
06:26That got him.
06:28Let's go get some of the boys and drag the lake.
06:58Well, I guess you got me.
07:02Come on out, stranger. I ain't so long.
07:12You're a pretty smart hombre.
07:14And you've got plenty of nerve.
07:16If it strikes me, the boss could use somebody like you.
07:19What's your name?
07:21I don't know.
07:23What's your name?
07:25I don't know.
07:26What's your name?
07:30Smith, ain't it?
07:32That's the handle most of you fast travelers use.
07:35Ah, that's as good as any.
07:37Mine's Jones.
07:41Say, you're pretty near all in, ain't you?
07:43Better come on up with me to the hideout and meet the big chief.
07:46We're short a couple of hands.
07:56Come on.
08:27I'm bringing a new man in to see the chief.
08:29Dick, I'd like for you to know my friend, Mr...
08:31Wait a minute. Don't tell me. Let me guess.
08:34Name's Smith, ain't it?
08:36That's right.
08:56Come on, let's go.
09:27We could hold up a whole army with this set up.
09:29Yeah, but if we ever do get in a tight spot,
09:31this time we'll run straight back through the mountains.
09:33We almost had to get away.
09:35You wait here a minute.
09:53Well, as long as you brought him in,
09:54we've got to do something with him.
10:04Say, we need a new cook.
10:06The last one got hurt bad yesterday.
10:24Hey, Smith.
10:26Come in and clean up this mess.
10:39Well, who's playing?
10:41Wait a minute. It's our deal.
10:43Deal me in.
10:44Me too.
10:46Not tonight for me, boys.
10:55I saw where that one came from, chief.
11:00Your eyes is kind of going back on you, ain't they, Jones?
11:03Oh, no, they aren't.

11:35That's nice.
11:36Now put that down.
11:37Oh, boy.
11:38I'm gonna need a filler.
11:39All right.
11:40All right.
11:42Get on the ground.
11:43All right.
11:44Now, towards the corner.
11:45All right.
11:46How about that?
11:47Now, let's get you in the car.
11:49I believe they didn't take it with them.
11:51Well, I don't know.
11:52Maybe there's a bullet in there.
11:55How about the knock-off?
11:56I'd be willing to take it with us.
11:57Yeah.
11:58Yeah, let's get them out of here.
11:59Yes.
12:00Well, my friend.
12:01I'll make a bed.
12:02You better keep that dude to mind his own business or we'll be needing another cook.
12:09$1,000 reward will be paid for information leading to the capture of John Brandt, sentenced
12:35to the Maryland State Prison when he was found with the body of George Wagner, a wealthy
12:40club man in the Loveless Department of Mrs. Joseph Conlon, ran escaped from prison May
12:4614th, and is thought to have headed west.
12:50You know that's the bird we lost at the lake yesterday, I'll have to send in a report on
12:57him.
12:58Funny thing about that case, the husband of the woman that was mixed up in it, both were
13:05on these parts too.
13:07I got a handle on him just yesterday.
13:11You might have saved Brandt if he'd only turned up and testified, at least that's what Brandt
13:17said at the trial.
13:19I wonder what would have happened if Brandt ever ran across Conlon, I'll bet he would
13:32have made it plenty hot for him.
13:46You sure made that plenty hot for me.
13:51It was mighty fine of you to mix in that fight last night, it wasn't any of your battle,
13:55and I won't forget it.
13:57And I won't either.
13:59Smith, you get out of the cradle and water the horses.
14:03I thought I was supposed to cook.
14:06Get going.
14:12Wait a minute, Jones, I want to talk to you.
14:15Just who is this fellow you call Smith, what do you know about him?
14:19Well, I know his name ain't Smith, but he's got plenty of nerve, and we could use a little
14:24of that around here.
14:25Besides, I know a square guy when I see one.
14:29Yeah, he might be a star packer, some of them are square guys.
14:34So you're worried about him, huh?
14:36Well, I'll show you he's all right.
14:38You know that safe job down at Sagebrush we were talking about?
14:41Well, Smith and I will pull that ourselves, just the two of us.
14:43A star packer wouldn't do that, would he?
14:45All right, pick him up down at the crale at noon.
14:49And if you get in a jam, hide out down at Blind Pete's.
14:52All right, Chief.
14:59You sure the law won't write in on us?
15:02Not a chance.
15:03They're all out looking for rustlers.
15:05Were you gentlemen interested in looking at something?
15:11Oh, yes.
15:13Sure.
15:14Would you mind just standing here a minute?
15:16Sure.
15:17I don't mind, OK?
15:18Sure.
15:21Well, I'm going to get my coat and my jacket.
15:24Sure.
15:25You wanna sit down with me?
15:26I'd like to sit down with you, sir.
15:27Yes, Mr. Stevens.
15:29Come on.
15:30I'll say so.
15:31Have you any rutabagas?
15:33Why, certainly.
15:43Hey, I don't know what for effort we came here for.
16:00What time does the next mail get in?
16:15At 3 o'Clock.
16:20Will it be on time?
16:22It never misses.
16:30Wouldn't you like one of these hats, Bennett?
16:32Why, uh...
16:34No, uh, I guess that'll be all.
16:36Won't there be anything else?
16:39No.
16:41Well, maybe my friend here would like something.
16:43What will you have?
16:47Why, uh...
16:49I'll take the same.
17:00Eggs.
17:13These are the eggs. Be careful with them.
17:17Are you sure you wouldn't care for one of these hats, Ben?
17:19Why, uh...
17:20They're special.
17:21Yeah, uh...
17:23I'll get one next time.
17:25That'll be ten dollars each.
17:26My friend'll pay for it.
17:49Oh, I'm sorry.
17:57I suppose you want more liniment for that rheumatism of yours.
18:00Well, how'd you guess it, Miss Sally?
18:02With you limping like that.
18:03Oh.
18:18Wait.
18:19I think I gave you the wrong bottle.
18:21Yeah?
18:23I think I gave you the wrong bottle.
18:25No, this is the right one.
18:27I don't know what's the matter with me today.
18:49Look, Dad.
18:56Leave a couple of men in your store with the lights on
18:59or your safe will be robbed tonight.
19:02Do you think those fellows who were just here had anything to do with this?
19:06Why, no, they couldn't have written it.
19:08Why, I was talking to one of them all the time.
19:11I'd better tell the sheriff.
19:14We'll be waiting for them, all right.
19:18But without any lights on.
19:26Oh.
19:38No lights, Jerry.
19:40That's bad.
19:42What's that?
19:43Nothing.
19:46You better let me go.
19:55We'll be waiting for them, all right.
20:25a way for me come on you're all right I don't mind people will be no time before
20:29you're up and around.
20:41That guy look mighty familiar to me. I wonder if it could have been
20:45a sheriff. Oh never mind no he's trying to play them in the dark anyhow.
21:25He's.

34:41afternoon it's just too heavy to move
34:43a horse back I'll follow him and find out if we come back together he's all right
34:49but if I send him back alone we know what to do.
35:02I. Know I
