We are all aware of the damage a land-based tornado can cause but water-based ones can be just as dangerous.

Two sailors from the Great Britain Clipper team taking part in 'The Clipper Round The World Yacht Race' were recently dumped into the ocean. Their 70-foot yacht was blown onto its side following heavy gusts from a small tornado.

Very strong winds of approximately 115 miles per hour first blew the yacht one way, then tipped it over to the other side, pinning it against the rough seas.

The brunt of the storm kept it there for what must have felt like the longest minute, especially for the two sailors, Sarah Usher and Liz Richards, who were dumped in the water hundreds of miles from anywhere.

Once the winds eased up a bit, the yacht turned upright and the crew pulled them out of the water.
