Just after half-time Viafara bagged his second of the night after good pressure from Southampton at the beginning of the second-half. The Rams then retook the lead on aggregate through a comical own goal from Leon Best. With seconds remaining Rasiak scored against his former club to take the game into extra-time. With no further breakthrough in added time, Derby won the penalty shoot-out - with Best (compounding an awful performance) and Idiakez (against his former club) missing from the spot.
