Steve Coogan, célèbre acteur anglais, est sollicité par un magazine pour chroniquer plusieurs restaurants chics du nord de l'Angleterre. Alors qu'il prévoyait de voyager avec sa fiancée, Misha, celle-ci décide de partir aux Etats-Unis faire le point. Incapable de voyager une semaine seul, Steeve se résout à contacter Rob Brydon, le seul de ses amis disponible.
