House of the Long Shadows (1983)

When an author makes a wager with his publisher that he can create a Gothic novel in just 24 hours if given the proper retreat in which to do so, his publisher has just the place in mind: it's an "old dark house" in Wales (imagine that!) populated by the eccentric Grisbanes.

With a screenplay adapted from the old stage chestnut "Seven Keys to Baldpate" by George M. Cohan (yep, the "Yankee Doodle Dandy" himself), itself based upon the novel by Earl Derr Biggers (creator of Charlie Chan!), this latest outing of the oft-filmed tale has some "long shadows" indeed, courtesy of genre giants Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Vincent Price, and John Carradine. (Not a shorty in the lot!)
