An American Delta IV Medium rocket successfully blasted off from Space Launch Complex 37 at Cape Canaveral tonight, May 17th 2014 at 00:03 UTC. The rocket on it's 26th flight since 2002 carried the GPS IIF-6 satellite into orbit.
Launch was delayed from May 16th due to severe thunderstorms in the area. GPS IIF-6 is the 6th of a planned 12 new satellites for the third generation GPS system run by United States Air Force.
