Long lines stretched outside the Imizamo Yethu Township polling station in Cape Town, where residents gathered to vote on May 7 in the country’s fifth democratic election since the end of apartheid. This footage captures jubilant South Africans dancing and celebrating in the streets. Many of the voters pictured are wearing ANC and Nelson Mandela T-shirts.“People are fascinated by voting,” Patrick Setayna, a community activist, said. “Some people, they’ve done their days work, and they’re coming back to still stand in this queue.” Credit: YouTube/Ed Rice
