Myanmar New Year
Here in Yangon, residents are pouring water on Buddha to kick off the New Year in Myanmar.

It's a way to wash away last year's sins, and start the new year off fresh.

(SOUNDBITE) (Burmese) 45-YEAR-OLD RESIDENT SANDAR SOE SAYING:

"I am thinking of making more donations in the coming year and I hope our country will get more developed since our country is in progress gradually."

It also is an excuse to dance in the street, on top of cars -- and drench each other with water.

The Myanmar New Year, also known as the Water Festival, lasts four days.
