A high-profile Irish republican has been charged with murdering 29 people in the Omagh bombing.

Seamus Daly from Culloville, County Monaghan was arrested by detectives in Newry on Monday and is expected to appear in court in Dungannon later on Friday.

The 1998 attack was the bloodiest in decades of violence in Northern Ireland.

Daly also faces two charges in relation to a car bombing in Lisburn in the same year.
