Puppet Nation ZA | Episode 22 | Blues and April Fools
  • 10 years ago
Did you get to see any of the Cape Town Jazz festival last week? One of the headlining acts included South Africa’s very own T-Balls Mbeki. Don’t recognise the name..? He’s a former ANC president who, despite being the first ever South African president to resign and being a little shaky on his grasp of HIV and AIDS, is suddenly the new long-lost darling of the DA.

Who are we to blame him, anyway? He tried to our President for corruption before he became the preseident, and now he's facing corruption charges again, for a cool R246 million. Not that he's accountable - he “did not ask for it”. Which is really refreshing, as this logic has made South Africans realise that e-Tolls and taxes are things we don’t have to pay either, as nobody's actually asked for them.

Further cause for uproar in the streets this week, despite his valiant plea for citizens not to do so, was Gareth Cliff’s resignation from 5FM. No April Fool’s joke (although we certainly wish some things this week were) - and nobody seems to have any idea what he’s up to next. We’re hoping it’s something smart, nice and quiet, but we’re not banking on anything.
